As of November 1, the number of new cotton in Pakistan was 13.83 million tons, compared with 118.10 million tons in the same period last year, up 17.1 percent, according to the Pakistan rolling plant association (PCGA). The new cotton processing volume was 1146 million tons, compared with 966,000 tons in the same period last year.
The total sales of new cotton is 10.51 million tons, compared with 870,000 tons in the same period last year, including 34,000 tons of exporters and 1017,000 tons of textile mills. Unsold new cotton stocks were 330,000 tonnes, compared with 310,000 tonnes in the same period last year. The number of processing is 236,000 tons, compared with 210,000 tons in the same period last year.
It is also understood that although Pakistan's cotton planting area is below the target set by the beginning of this year, the amount of rainfall has clearly restored cotton acreage and the production of new cotton is higher than previously thought. The Pakistan cotton crop assessment committee (CCAC) may raise cotton output in 2017/18 to 219.30 million tons, of which punjab province is 14.96 million tons, sindh province of 629, 000 tons and other areas 68, 000 tons.
